Astronomers detect first atmosphere on a rocky planet in the habitable zone

Astronomers at the Center for Astrophysics, Harvard & Smithsonian have detected the first known atmosphere on a rocky planet orbiting within the habitable zone of another star. This is the strongest evidence yet for an Earth-like world that could potentially support life outside our solar system. The planet, slightly larger than Earth, orbits a red dwarf star and shows clear spectroscopic signs of an atmosphere, though its exact composition is still under study.
