US launches new wave of strikes
The United States launched more than 80 strikes against Iranian targets on Tuesday, triggering a sharp escalation in the conflict. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, emerged as a flashpoint after satellite imagery confirmed damage to an Iranian port facility there. The IMF warned the conflict is contributing to a sharp global economic slowdown, projecting world output growth would fall to 3 percent for the year.
