Iran resumes missile and drone attacks on UAE, breaking ceasefire

Iran resumed attacks on the United Arab Emirates on Monday, firing 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles, and four drones at targets in the Gulf state. The UAE Ministry of Defense confirmed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted all incoming threats.

The attacks targeted an oil refinery in Fujairah, setting it ablaze and wounding three Indian nationals working at the facility. This marks the first major attack since the US-Iran ceasefire was established last month, raising concerns about regional stability.

US officials have expressed concern about the escalation, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stating that the US is working to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for international shipping. The strait remains a critical chokepoint for global oil transportation.
