Google fires price war salvo
Google announced Monday it is cutting the monthly price of Google AI Plus from $7.99 to $4.99 while doubling storage from 200GB to 400GB. The move brings emerging-market pricing strategies that Google and OpenAI deployed in India to American consumers. 'My prediction for a lot of these infrastructure companies — OpenAI, Anthropic — there will be a period when these companies are valuable, but over time you will see them get increasingly commoditized,' said Chi-Hua Chien of Goodwater Capital.
Anthropic releases Fable 5, calls for AI safety rules
Anthropic released Claude Fable 5, a public version of its Mythos model, which can generate playable video games. The company also urged the US government to require safety testing for the most capable AI models.
