AI servers drive record growth
Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics maker, reported another strong quarter Monday and said it is accelerating production of AI servers to meet surging demand from cloud providers. The Taiwanese company said revenue from AI-related hardware now accounts for a growing share of its total sales, driven by record data center investments from U.S. technology giants.
Executives told investors that AI server shipments should keep climbing through the second half of the year. They pointed to multi-year contracts with major cloud customers and said orders for next-generation machines are already booked well into 2027.
Expanding factories across three continents
To handle the load, Foxconn is expanding plants in Taiwan, Mexico and India. The company has said it wants to reduce reliance on any single country and keep production close to its biggest customers. New lines in Mexico serve the North American market, while Indian facilities support growing demand across Asia.
The expansion covers not only final assembly but also components such as power systems, cooling units and precision parts. Foxconn said it is hiring thousands of engineers and technicians across the new sites, and it is working with local governments to train workers for the new lines.
A bellwether for the AI build-out
Analysts view Foxconn's outlook as a weather vane for the global artificial intelligence build-out. The company assembles servers for most of the major cloud providers, so its order books offer an early read on industry demand.
Industry watchers noted that demand for high-end chips, advanced cooling and precision manufacturing equipment remains strong. Foxconn's results suggest the AI hardware cycle still has room to run, even as some investors question whether spending will stay at current levels. The company's shares rose on the news in Taipei trading.
