Anthropic has released Claude Tag, an enterprise AI agent that connects to workplace messaging platforms including Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Google Chat. Unlike generic chatbots, Claude Tag indexes company-specific language, project history, and internal documentation to provide context-aware responses. Early adopters report that the tool can summarize weeks of thread discussions in seconds and draft replies that match company tone and terminology.
Privacy and surveillance concerns emerge
The launch has drawn criticism from digital rights groups. Signal president Meredith Whittaker warned that workplace AI agents that process internal communications create risks around data retention and employee monitoring. Claude Tag's terms of service state that message data is encrypted and only used to improve responses within the customer's instance, but critics argue that the mere existence of such a system changes workplace dynamics.
Anthropic expands amid regulatory headwinds
The release follows a turbulent period for Anthropic, which recently saw its Fable 5 model banned by the U.S. government. Despite regulatory pressure, the company continues to expand its enterprise offerings. Nobel laureate John Jumper recently left DeepMind to join Anthropic, signaling the company's ambition to compete at the frontier of AI research.
