2026 is set to be one of the most significant years in global sports history, with three major international events scheduled: the FIFA Men's World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada; the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in Italy; and the ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka and India.

The FIFA World Cup, scheduled from June 11 to July 19, will be the first World Cup hosted by three nations and the first to feature 48 teams. Stadium preparations are nearing completion across North America, with organizers expecting record attendance and global viewership.

"This is a historic moment for football and for North America," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. "We're preparing for the biggest and most inclusive World Cup in history."

The Milano Cortina Winter Olympics will take place from February 6-22, marking Italy's third time hosting the Winter Games. The event will feature new sports and disciplines, including ski mountaineering and mixed team events in several sports.

In cricket, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup will be held in Sri Lanka and India from February 7 to March 8, bringing together the world's top cricket nations for the shortest format of the game. The tournament is expected to draw massive crowds in cricket-loving South Asia.

Other major sporting events in 2026 include the Super Bowl in California, the Australian Open tennis tournament, the Six Nations rugby championship, and numerous world championships across various sports disciplines.
